THE AREA I COVER
Where I work
My office is in Durham and I live in Brier Creek, so most of my week happens between the two. Here is where I list and where I show.
Do not see your town? Call or text 919-500-6159. The map is bigger than the tiles.
Three moves I get asked about most
These three come up more than anything else, mostly because of where I live and the move I made myself. Every other kind of move is just as welcome.
Selling in Brier Creek and ZIP 27617
Brier Creek is where I live, in the Regency section of Brier Creek Country Club, and where my husband and I own rental property. Pricing, HOA questions, and timing come from living here and watching what sells on my own streets. Every listing includes a staging consultation and an appraiser’s price opinion, arranged after the listing agreement is signed at no extra cost to you.
How I sell homes in Brier CreekActive Adult/55+ Communities in Wake and Durham Counties
Del Webb, Epcon, Toll Brothers, and the resale 55 plus communities near Raleigh, NC that most people have never heard of, compared on the facts that matter: dues and what they cover, home types, amenities, and what is actually available right now. Downsizing from a larger home at the same time? That sequence is something I plan with you from the first conversation.

This was my move too, from the Bay Area about a decade ago. Together with Judith Vandsburger of the JV Dream Homes Team in the Bay Area, I help you sell there and buy here without living out of a suitcase in between. Video tours, off-hours calls on Pacific time, and one person who knows both markets.
Start with the California guideEverywhere Else in the Area
Most of my weeks are ordinary moves in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and Wake Forest. Selling a family home, buying a first one, moving across town. Plenty of those moves are new construction homes in Raleigh and Durham. The care is the same whether or not your move falls into one of the three above.
Let’s talk about your move
Living starts here.
Meet Carolyn
Selling a home or planning a move is rarely just a transaction. It is a turning point, and it deserves someone who treats it that way.
My name is Carolyn Graven, a concierge real estate agent serving the Raleigh-Durham Triangle, with deep roots as a Brier Creek residential specialist as well as a resident and the surrounding communities of Cary, Morrisville, Durham, Wake Forest, and Chapel Hill. Homeowners come to me to sell with confidence. Downsizers lean on my local knowledge to explore 55-plus active adult communities at their own pace, with full representation from first showing to closing. Those relocating from California rely on me to make a cross-country move feel manageable from start to finish.
My practice is small by design, so your home and your move are truly the priority. From our first conversation through closing and beyond, the details stay in my hands: pricing strategy, staging guidance, marketing, showings, negotiation, and the logistics of a long-distance move. With more than 25 years of business experience behind me, my approach is grounded in honesty, clear communication, and steady support, so you always know where things stand.

FAQ people ask before they call
Do you only work in Brier Creek and the 55+ communities?
No. Most of my work is regular buying and selling across Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest and the towns around them. Those two simply come up more often, because Brier Creek is where I live and the active adult communities are ones I have walked through many times over. Whatever your move looks like, start with a call and we will figure out the plan together.
Who pays my buyer’s agent, and when do we talk about it?
Before we tour a single home. How buyer agency compensation works is explained and put in writing before showings begin, so there are no surprises later. You are represented directly by me through closing and never referred to another agent.
What does a buyer’s agent actually do for me?
Everything between “I think I want to move” and the keys in your hand: narrowing the search, arranging tours, reading the fine print on new-construction contracts, negotiating price and repairs, and coordinating inspections, the attorney, and closing. In North Carolina a real estate attorney handles the closing itself, and I make sure that step is scheduled and smooth.
How do showings work when my home is listed?
Showings are booked by the buyer’s agent through the showing service, using SentriLock lockboxes that log every entry, and I follow up with you after every one. You do not need to be present, and sellers who have already moved out of state are handled every day. Open houses are the exception: those I host personally.
How much can I sell my Brier Creek house for?
The honest answer is that it depends on your section, your floor plan, and what has closed nearby in the last few months. Your price comes from recent comparable sales plus an appraiser’s price opinion, which a licensed appraiser prepares after the listing agreement is signed, at no extra cost to you. You get the findings in plain English before we set a number.
What is the Market-Ready Method, and do I have to use it?
The Market-Ready Method is optional home-prep coordination for sellers who want the cleaning, small repairs, paint, and staging handled without managing every vendor themselves. The vendors work for you, you hire and pay them directly, and every quote is approved by you before any work starts. Plenty of sellers skip it and simply use the staging consultation that comes with every listing.
Do you help people moving here from California?
Yes, and it was my own move about a decade ago, from the Bay Area to the Raleigh area. Together with Judith Vandsburger of the JV Dream Homes Team in the Bay Area, I coordinate the sale there and the purchase here, with video tours and calls on Pacific time. The guide at CaliforniaToRaleigh.com is the place to start.
